| .:: Dedications: Digital Piano ::. |

::: History :::
Mt. Zion has had both an organ and a piano for several years (the pictures of the sanctuary from the 1950's included just a piano). The pianos have been replaced throughout the years when it was needed. Then about three years ago (around mid-2007), the piano that we had was having some tuning problems and it was decided not to tune it any longer due to its age, but a replacement or alternative would have to be found. The Trustee Chair at the tim (Mike) approached our organist (Mary) and asked her to do some research to find out what was available for a combination instrument (both piano and organ), the costs, etc.
One of the local music shops was contacted and they recommended going with the Korg brand of digital pianos, which would give us not only the piano we are seeking, but would have 30 sounds, have the ability to layer, would work in combination with our current organ and would not have to be tuned.

::: Fundraising :::
With the information on the price of the Korg in hand, the church set up a fund and started raising funds from the congregation, keeping the issue in front of the congregation so they would understand how we were doing on the price of the piece. In Christmas, 2009, the congregation made a gift of a donation to that fund in the organist's name (which awed her immensely and was most unexpected) and within a short span of time, we were able to raise the remaining funds to enable the purchase of the Korg C320 that you see pictured above and below.::: Sound Booth :::
This page could not come about without mention of someone who was a member of our congregation and did so much for the church. Ron built the sound booth that stands in the corner of our church and this sound booth has all the machinery that allows one person to not only control the equipment but also run the computer and the musical instruments and we are all very grateful for his talents and what he has done. There is a picture of the sound booth at the bottom of this page.::: Thank yous :::
This section is a personal note from the organist, Mary, who is also the webmaster. I am very grateful (for starters) to Ron, who built the sound booth. I am also very grateful to everyone who donated to the fund that allowed us to purchase the Korg and I do mean everyone...it all combined and was all very important. I am also very grateful to those who helped move the Korg from the music store to the church (Mike, Tim and Mary S.) and to Mike for re-working the countertop. Last, but definitely not least, I would like to thank our current Trustee Chair, Chris, for organizing the last parts of the sound booth corner. I am very grateful for everyone's help. This is for everyone and, while I may be the one using it the most right now, to have this organized so well means that someone else can step in and be a guest organist when they would like, which is what happened at the end of January.
