| .:: Missions ::. |
Mt. Zion is involved in different mission aspects and they will be displayed here, from missions that the Methodist Church as a whole is involved in to missions that Mt. Zion is involved in by itself and with other local churches.
In 2009, the children collected a total of $416.61. The funds were distributed equally among Heifer International, The Indiana United Methodist Children's Home, and the Mt. Zion Camp Fund ($138.87 to each mission). The children each chose an animal or tree to donate to Heifer International, and from the coins collected were able to send chickens, ducks, rabbits, and shares of trees, a goat and a pig to other parts of the world.
The children have chosen UMCOR - Haiti, Riley Children's Foundation, and the Mt. Zion Camp Fund for coins collected in 2010. UMCOR - Haiti is the United Methodist Committee on Relief's effort to help earthquake victims in Haiti. Riley Children's Foundation is committed to improving the health and well-being of Indiana's children through philanthropic leadership in support of Riley Hospital for Children and its research programs. The Mt. Zion Camp Fund helps provide funding for any child attending Mt. Zion to attend camps offered by the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.
The next cluster meeting will be held November 8, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. at West Point United Methodist Church.
::: Children's Coins :::
The last Sunday of each month, the children at Mt. Zion collect coins for three missions that they pick and collect coins for. At the end of the year, the total of the year's collection is divided and distributed to three missions the children have selected for the year. It is truly amazing how those coins add up by the end of the year...so save them and donate them to the children's missions every month! In 2009, the children collected a total of $416.61. The funds were distributed equally among Heifer International, The Indiana United Methodist Children's Home, and the Mt. Zion Camp Fund ($138.87 to each mission).
