We have had a very rich history in congregations that matches the rich history of the building they have worshipped in.

Because congregations can be so different and vast in their experiences and expectations of the church they choose to attend, we are including some testimonials from members regarding their experience and why they attend.

I moved to West Lafayette from Newton County in 1992 during a difficult time in my life. I'd been attending Mt. Zion UMC near Kentland and was aware of another Mt. Zion somewhere off Morehouse Rd. in West Lafayette. So many churches to choose from in West Lafayette, though! Praying for God's guidance in selecting a church, I read this scripture: “Then the LORD will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy.” Isaiah 4:5

I needed God's protection and this verse answered my prayers. I began attending Mt. Zion UMC (West Lafayette), where I found a loving church family. This church has come to be a lighthouse symbol for many, a beacon of the light of Christ.

I found Mt. Zion very early as I used to come here with my grandma as a child. I have always lived close to the church all my life. I come to Mt. Zion because I like it here, because the people here have helped me grow with God. The congregation is my other family and this church has saved me from my sins and bad ways.
